Florida farmer finds alligator in his cucumber patch

Alligator sightings are not uncommon in Florida, but they are usually in bodies of water. A farmer in Weeki Wachee, however, found one of the creatures in his cucumber patch recently.

"I was picking cucumbers and I seen this big head," said Terry Ward. "I thought it was a gator at first. So, I started picking faster and then he just popped up out of the water."

Ward called animal control, who captured the alligator and released it into a nearby body of water. While he was understandably startled by the encounter, Ward said he wasn't too frightened.

"I wasn't scared but my wife was running through the house squealing like a little pig," Ward joked.

This is not the first time an alligator has been spotted in a residential area – alligators have been known to wander into yards, pools and even garages on occasion. However, it is still rare for them to be found so close to humans.

Alligator caught swimming in family pool

Neighbors reported that an alligator was swimming in a family's pool in a residential area. Officers responded and caught the alligator.

The alligator is approximately four feet long and is now in the custody of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission. It is not yet known how the alligator got into the pool, but officials say that it is possible that it may have been there for some time.

There have been several reports of alligators spotted in swimming pools recently, so residents are being warned to be aware of their surroundings and to keep an eye out for any dangerous wildlife.

Gator sighting closes popular Florida park

A alligator sighting at a popular park in Florida has closed the park to the public.

The alligator was seen at Lakeland's Hollis Park and officials did not want anyone else getting hurt.

This is not the first time an alligator has been spotted in this park. In October of last year, a four-foot alligator was spotted in the same park.

Lakeland police are warning people to stay away from any body of water where an alligator may be lurking.

Toddler survives alligator attack while playing in lagoon

A toddler has narrowly survived an alligator attack while playing in a lagoon at a Disney resort in Orlando.

The two-year-old was with his parents at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa when he wandered off from the beach area into a nearby lagoon.

It was there that he was attacked by an alligator, which bit him on the leg. His father immediately rushed to his aid and wrestled the alligator's head underwater until it let go.

The child was airlifted to hospital where surgeons worked for hours to save his leg, which was badly mangled in the attack. He is currently in a stable condition.

Disney has declined to comment on the attack, but issued a statement saying that it is working with local authorities to investigate what happened.

This is not the first time an alligator has attacked someone at one of Disney's resorts. In June 2016, an American woman was killed by an alligator while walking her dogs near a lake at Walt Disney World Resort.

10-foot alligator spotted on golf course

An alligator was spotted on a golf course in Sugar Land, Texas.

The 10-foot alligator was seen swimming in the water hazard on the 16th hole of the Riverbend Country Club.

"I've been playing here for six years and this is the first time I've ever seen one," golfer Wesley Ng said.

Alligators are common in Texas and can be found in every county. They usually stay away from people, but they can be dangerous if provoked.

The Riverbend Country Club posted a warning to players after the alligator was spotted.
